Riccardo Trivisonno from Huawei participated at the 5G PPP cross project workshop in Athens and presented the main results of the CONFIG project and its current impact on standardisation. The workshop took place on 6-7 February 2017 and included the following topics :

  • Overall 5G RAN design and Overall 5G architecture
  • Network slicing and Control Plane Architecture and SDN for 5G
  • Security
  • Air interface design
  • Complexity
  • Use cases / models / performance evaluation

The workshop gathered most of the 5G PPP projects as well as external projects such as CONFIG, focusing on the future 5G infrastructure. The workshop was organised base on the initiative of the project METIS-II, which aims to bring the European research activities on 5G together, to enable collaboration among the ongoing projects to create a unified European view, and to ensure a successful start of standardisation of 5G system in the next months.
